“Birth of a Beauty” pokes fun at Han Ye Seul’s previous controversy

Birth of a Beauty director Lee Chang Min confessed that he kept Han Ye Seul and Joo Sang Wook’s passports, poking fun of the previous controversy involving the actress. 

On October 30th, Birth of a Beauty held their press conference at SBS headquarters in Mokdong, where the director playfully revealed that he kept Han Ye Seul and Joo Sang Wook’s passports.

The director made made a light joke, referencing past controversies saying, “I came here with their passports as they have promised not to run away.” He also described the upcoming drama to be enjoyable, asking their supporters to show interest as they premiere.

Actress Han Ye Seul was involved in a controversy after she departed from the filming of then drama Spy Myungwol in protest of the production’s working schedules back in 2011. However, despite its sensitivity, the cast and director lightly referenced the controversy at their press conference.

Birth of a Beauty revolves around the story of an unattractive and overweight woman who receives a surgical transformation by Joo Sang Wook’s character. It will start airing on SBS on November 1st.
