7 Of The Most Heart-Wrenching Things Idols Have Said On Camera

Bring tissues because you will definitely tear up.

Being famous is a bit of a double-edged sword. You’re loved by people around the world but at the same time, so much of your life is available for consumption by the public — including the painful moments. Here are 7 times idols have made heart-wrenching statements on camera.

1. Tzuyu (TWICE)

Back in 2016 when TWICE’s Tzuyu was only 16 years old, she was forced to release an apology for waving the flag of Taiwan in a video. Her apology was compared to a hostage video and the situation was such a big deal at the time that even Western media outlets reported on it.

2. Ladies’ Code

After the untimely deaths of EunB and RiSe, a memorial concert was held. The three surviving members of the car accident (Ashley, Sojung, and Zuny) performed in tribute to their late groupmates.

Their pain is palpable and while the tribute is moving, it is difficult to see the ladies in so much pain.

3. Tiffany Young (Girls’ Generation)

Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany has always been very open about how profoundly her mom‘s passing affected her. During an appearance on Kim Jungeon’s Chocolate, Tiffany sent a heartbreaking message to her mom in heaven that made everyone cry.

4. Jimin (BTS)

It was heartbreaking seeing Jimin beat himself up for mistakes he perceived, even when others around him thought he did great. Because he wants to make sure that fans get the best experience every time, he’s very hard on himself.

5. Hyeri (Girl’s Day)

During an appearance on Happy Together, Hyeri revealed that the tears she cried for her on-screen grandmother in the drama Reply 1988 were real tears shed for her real-life grandma. Her real-life grandma had passed away a day before she filmed that scene. Hyeri was emotional whenever she had to discuss losing her grandmother, often crying on variety shows when the topic was brought up.

6. PRODUCE 101

Footage of the trainees from PRODUCE 101 crying during phone calls with their family is heart-wrenching and painful.

7. V (BTS)

When V emotionally opened up about his grandmother’s passing during a concert, everyone was moved to tears.

While these videos were difficult to watch, it was certainly even more difficult for the person (or people) in them to open up about such personal things. Despite the heaviness of their statements, hopefully they are comforted by the fact that they are loved around the world.
