4 Times That Soyeon Combined The Arts Of Rapping And Snacking

We love a queen who can multitask!

With her most recent comeback “Beam Beam“, Soyeon has confirmed herself to be the queen of rapping with snacks. Whether it be the title of the song, the lyrics, the major prop for the video, or a combination of the three, here are the tasty times that Soyeon has cooked up something delicious with her raps.

1. “Jelly”

After her appearance on Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar but before her time as the leader and main rapper of (G)I-DLE, Soyeon released her first solo track “Jelly“. With lyrics that won’t let you forget that she’s “Up on the Jelly” and a music video filled with enough sweet treats to make Willy Wonka jealous, “Jelly” makes an excellent first entry into the catalogue of Soyeon’s snacks & raps. (Plus how can you not love when shouts “Lemon!”)

2. “Idle Song”

While this sweet song of love and heartbreak doesn’t feature too much lyrically in the food department, the music video prominently shows popcorn and pancakes as Soyeon hopes for “something fresh” for her and her love who are growing apart.

3. “Dessert”

In this track from Girls’ Generation‘s HYO, Soyeon takes on the feature role delivering the song’s hook. With her signature tone, she delivers a list of sweet treats including “Chocolate, Candy, Fruit, Honey, Butter, Waffle and…” her list just keeps going. With a lyrics credit for this track under her belt, it’s no surprise that Soyeon brought her sweet charms to the hook of this club track.

4. “Beam Beam”

With this track, Soyeon has reached her snack pinnacle thus far. From the mini album’s name Windy being a parody of the popular fast food chain Wendy’s, the album packaging resembling that of a fast food kids meal, the lyrics mentioning ice coffee, lemon beer, and ice cream cones, and finally the music video itself being set primarily within an imagined Windy’s restaurant. The video features imagery of classic fast food items like soda and fries with her video co-star being a burger costume that becomes a sentient burger! Recently, she released her TikTok challenge for the song which involves her performing the choreography while holding onto different snack items including a bag of Sun Chips. If that isn’t a love for snacking and rapping then I don’t know what is!
