BLACKPINK’s “BOOMBAYAH” has surpassed 400 million views on Youtube, making it the first debut song in history to achieve this figure and making BLACKPINK the first K-Pop group to have 3 music videos with over 400 million views on YouTube.
BLACKPINK’s “BOOMBAYAH”, which was released on August 8, 2016 as their debut song, surpassed 400 million views at 9 pm on October 23rd and the news was shared shortly after through YG Entertainment’s official blog.
Within just 5 days of its release, “BOOMBAYAH” reached over 10 million views and within 177 days, it reached over 100 million views. It also became the first debut song to surpass 200 million views, 300 million views, and now, 400 million views.
With this most recent record, BLACKPINK now has over 400 million views for their songs “AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST”, “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “BOOMBAYAH”, making them the first K-Pop group to have over 4 million views on 3 music videos.
BLACKPINK is also the K-Pop group with the most YouTube followers with currently 12 million followers. They have received the “Diamond Play Button” from YouTube for this achievement.
With so many achievements already made after just 2 years since their debut, it is no surprise that the major American label, Interscope Records of the Universal Music Group, took notice and signed a contract with the girls.
Moreover, starting with Jennie, Yang Hyun Suk has announced that each of the BLACKPINK members is preparing to release their solo tracks.
In addition, BLACKPINK’s recent collaboration with Dua Lipa, “KISS AND MAKE UP”, has topped the iTunes chart in 21 countries and ranked No.8 on the US chart.
