DRIPPIN’s Junho Reveals Why He Had A “Breakdown” During His Debut Performance

A great performer like Junho shouldn’t worry about anything.

Many idols feel a rush of emotions after a performance, and that couldn’t be truer for debut stages. In a new interview, DRIPPIN‘s Junho revealed the “breakdown” he had during this first-ever performance in front of a crowd.

Following their debut in October last year, DRIPPIN recently came back with “Young Blood” from their new mini-album, A Better Tomorrow. Talking about his aims for this era, Junho explained that he feels like DRIPPIN got “more love than we deserve” during their debut era.

When we released our first album, a lot of fans showed interest and considering what we had accomplished, I believe we got more love than we deserve.

While fans would vehemently disagree, that thought got Junho and his fellow members wondering how to improve on stage and thinking about what else they could show to fans with “Young Blood”. For Junho, it seems that making those improvements was all the more important because of his experiences at debut.

During the interview, Junho recalled monitoring his performances during DRIPPIN’s “Nostalgia” promotions. The group’s first performance was at their debut showcase, and in behind-the-scenes clips, Junho can be seen expressing how nervous he is.

After the initial showcase ended, INFINITE‘s Sunggyu showed up for support and asked the team whether they thought they did well. In response, Junho said, “We could have done better, but for the fan showcase [we will].”

Looking back, Junho says he remembers “literally [having] a breakdown” during their first performance. “I couldn’t sing or locate the cameras,” he explained, “I could see that I was confused.”

I saw myself and I didn’t look very cool… That’s when I thought to myself, ‘I’d better try to not look like a newbie next time.’

— Junho

As such, Junho became particularly concerned about doing his best for “Young Blood.” The star shared, “Even the look in their eyes feel different when you look at people who are ready and confident.” For the group’s latest era, Junho explained, “I wanted to see my own performance and the faces I make on stage and not feel ashamed, but proud.”

Thankfully, while promotions for “Young Blood” have only just started, DRIPPIN fans can all agree that Junho is at the top of his game.
