[★TRENDING] International fandom for “Monday Couple” Gary and Song Ji Hyo plants forest in their honor

The love for SBS show Running Man‘s Monday Couple is still going strong as fans overseas showed their support for the onscreen couple by planting a forest in their name.

Consisting of actress Song Ji Hyo and Leessang‘s Gary, both part of Running Man‘s fixed cast, they have won over the hearts of viewers for their couple-like relationship onscreen in the past five years of the variety show’s run. Despite having not reunited or teaming up onscreen the past several episodes, the love for the Monday Couple has continued to grow strong among fans.

The “International Monday Couple Fans” fandom is a foreign fan club that combines several fanclubs in 10 different countries including Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan who all participated in the project.

A representative from the Taiwan branch revealed that they wanted to show their love of the Monday Couple while at the same time, create a memorable event.

The “Monday Couple Forest” is located in Gangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul where 335 trees of different types were planted. This is the first time a forest has been planted for a television show as most fandoms do this type of charity work for their favorite idols.

Following the news of this forest, Gary posted a photo of the report on his Instagram on July 20th, writing, “Omg! Really?”
