Actress Moon Geun Young‘s agency, Namoo Actors, released a statement on February 3 updating her fans on her current health.
The actress’s health has finally improved significantly after several surgeries for her acute compartment syndrome and she will finally be able to return home.
“Moon Geun Young has finished her fourth surgery and, because her condition improved a lot, she has been given permission to leave the hospital this afternoon. But because she has undergone several difficult surgeries, she will need continuous rest and treatment until she is fully recovered. She will undergo outpatient treatment and be resting for a while. We would like to thank everyone for their concern and words of encouragement. She hopes to meet you all in the future in full health.”

Moon Geun Young complained of sudden pain in her right arm on February 1. The following day, she was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome and underwent emergency surgery. Unfortunately, her appearances in the play Romeo and Juliet had to be canceled.
Acute compartment syndrome is caused by a pressure buildup inside of a muscle, causing severe pain. If left untreated, the pressure can decrease blood flow to the affected area, depriving muscles of oxygen. Any delays in treatment can lead to loss of muscle function and necrosis.
