NCT’s Xiaojun Had A Hair Emergency On The Set Of “Make A Wish” MV

It’s a miracle they managed to fix the problem!

NCT U‘s performance during the “Make a Wish” music video may have gone perfectly, but not every aspect of the MV shoot was so smooth. In fact, Xiaojun had a hair emergency during the group shots that stylist Park Naeju and his team had just minutes to fix! Park revealed all in a new Dare U Naeju video on YouTube.

When you look at Xiaojun’s styling for “Make a Wish”, what’s the first thing you notice? For many, it’s his vibrant yellow hair color. Park Naeju says that he wanted to try a “primary yellow color” for one of the members because it’s currently on trend, and it seems like Xiaojun was considered the perfect fit.

Since the yellow dye is so bright, NCT’s styling team assumed it would stand out under the strong lighting on the “Make a Wish” set. However, things didn’t go quite as planned. During the group scene shots, Park Naeju noticed that Xiaojun’s hair looked more like basic bleached blonde than the vivid yellow they were aiming for.

After one of two takes of the group shots, the styling team decided to monitor the footage—and they simply decided Xiaojun’s look wasn’t up to scratch. Thankfully, they were ready to solve his hair emergency in an instant—which is lucky, because an instant is all they had.

With just three to four minutes of break time, Park Naeju and his team rushed in to re-dye Xiaojun’s hair yellow! They also managed to find the time to add in some curls for more volume.

Though added in at the last minute, the curls ended up being a key touch. Park Naeju explained that the added volume and texture “brought [his hair] to life“, making the yellow color appear more standout than before.
