EKKO Music Rights producers Moonshine and Sunshine are known in the K-Pop world for producing Red Velvet’s “Peek-A-Boo” in 2017. Since then, they have continued to make hit songs in the Korean entertainment industry.
Moonshine is made up of two producers, Jonathan Gusmark and Ludvig Evers. Sunshine is a duo team consisting of Ellen Berg and Cazzi Opeia.
Moonshine revealed that “Peek-A-Boo” was inspired by the animation Scooby-Doo. They used scenes from this show to create the image for Red Velvet’s music video. Jonathan created the first melody while on a train. Then Ludvig and Cazzi worked on the rest of the song in the studio. Later, Ellen came by and created an addictive hook, thus completing the song.
They added that the lines they sang while recording the English demo was used directly into the final song.
During the interview, they were asked what made them choose K-Pop. The producers expressed that they enjoyed making K-Pop music because there are no restrictions in terms of concept and sound. They are able to be creative and free when making music. Allowing themselves to experiment with different styles also helped them grow as a producers.
In the case of Red Velvet’s “Power Up,” they experimented with slot machine or video game sounds to create the song.
Both Moonshine and Sunshine were touched by the fans and how passionate they were about K-Pop music. It’s no doubt that K-Pop fans are seen as one of the most loyal fan bases in the world!
