Red Velvet’s Irene Comes To (G)-IDLE Miyeon’s Rescue With Her Quick Thinking

We love seeing seniors help their juniors!

Red Velvet recently had their first comeback in over a year and a half with “Queendom”. Much to ReVeluvs delight, the girls were able to quickly secure the song its first music show win on M! Countdown a little over a week after its premiere.

While most groups are distracted with the excitement after their music show wins (and rightfully so), Irene proved herself to be the ultimate professional, no matter the situation.

When a group wins on a music show, it’s customary for them to give a “thank you” speech for which the MC of the show often hands over their microphone. In this case, (G)I-DLE‘s Miyeon happened to be the MC to pass the mic.

For Miyeon, panic set in when the mic made its way down the line of Red Velvet members but never returned.

Miyeon attempted to signal her to her co-MC for his mic, but he was focused on delivering his lines. It seemed she would be left without a way to deliver her “goodbye” at end the program.

Irene quickly noticed Miyeon’s distress and retrieved the mic from Wendy who was all the way at the end of the line.

She then handed off the mic in the nick of time as Miyeon had to deliver her ending lines within the next few seconds.

Fans of both groups on Twitter were impressed with Irene’s awareness and grateful for her quick thinking.

Fans also couldn’t help but love the interaction between the two visuals and Twitter itself even seemed to agree:
