Fans Accuse SM Entertainment Of Discriminating Against Female Idols And Red Velvet In Light Of Recent Concert News

Fans are upset that their concert was never rearranged for.

Fans of Red Velvet have been expressing their anger and disappointment towards SM Entertainment. On August 10, 2022, it was announced that NCT Dream‘s second solo concert in South Korea would be held in September. Their concert was originally slated for late July but was canceled after two members, Mark and Renjun, contracted COVID-19. The concert was later announced to be reopened in September.

While Red Velvet fans are happy for NCTzens and do not blame NCT Dream in any way, they couldn’t help but feel slighted by SM Entertainment. Red Velvet had originally been slated to hold their concert, The ReVe Festival: Prologue, in Seoul on March 19-20, 2022. After Irene, Joy, and Yeri contracted COVID-19, the concert had been canceled.

Red Velvet fans felt the stark difference in treatment when NCT Dream’s concert was reannounced. The ReVe Festival has not been rescheduled yet, and after a whole 6 months has passed, it seems impossible. Fans claim that SM Entertainment is discriminating against female idols and Red Velvet. They have been trending the hashtags “#MakeItGenerallyKnownHow_SM_DiscriminatesAgainstFemaleIdols” and “#SM_ReturnUs_RedVelvet’s_Concert“.

Fans are asking for answers.

The final straw might have been the concert, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Fans have been holding back for a long time. They claim that Red Velvet has been receiving less than optimal treatment from the company for years.

SM Entertainment has yet to respond to the allegations. But as we await hopefully good news about Red Velvet’s concert, check out their latest music video, “Feel My Rhythm” below:
