ReVeluvs Demand Better Promotions For Red Velvet Leading Up To Their August Comeback

“I don’t know what’s with SM…”

Back in June, SM Entertainment confirmed that Red Velvet would be having a comeback in August, more than a year and a half after the release of their previous album, The ReVe Festival: Finale.

Despite not having any promotions as a full group during that time, the members have kept themselves busy with individual projects. Irene and Seulgi formed a sub-unit in 2020, Wendy and Joy each had solo albums, and Yeri is currently starring in the K-Drama Blue Birthday.

Now that the girls are finally back together, ReVeluvs are demanding better promotions for the group moving forward, as they believe that SM Entertainment has not given Red Velvet fair treatment when compared to other groups in the company.

One major problem that ReVeluvs have had for years is that Red Velvet has been denied opportunities internationally, specifically in the United States. Despite the fact that they have had major success overseas, with both Nicole Franz and Phil Quartararo, (executives from Capitol Music Group and Warner Bros. Records) expressing interest in collaborating with the group, nothing ever came out of either offer.

Their frustrations towards SM Entertainment have only increased as of late, because aespa was just signed by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) less than a year after their debut, joining label mates NCT 127 and SuperM. While ReVeluvs harbor no ill will towards aespa themselves, it’s been hard for them to watch SM Entertainment push Red Velvet to the sidelines once again, especially as their comeback draws near.

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts, hoping that SM will finally listen and allow Red Velvet to expand into the U.S. market.

What do you think about the situation?
