Love It Or Hate It, Here’s The New Funky Eyelashes Trend Among Female Idols

“It makes me think of insects.”

There’s a new makeup trend circulating through the world of K-Pop…and it’s definitely not for everyone.

Jennie (BLACKPINK)

Specifically, there’s a new and unique way female idols are styling their eyelashes that is completely polarizing fans.

Tzuyu (TWICE)

Typically, idols may sport a soft and natural eyelash look…

Lisa (BLACKPINK)

…and occasionally, they may go for a western look with bold fake eyelashes. However, this new trend is neither of these.

Hwasa (MAMAMOO)

The new look consists of long lashes that are purposely clumped together to create a long and thick lash look.

Typically, when applying mascara, most people try to avoid clumping hairs together. However, the goal of this look is to group together a few hairs with tweezers to create a few bold strands with space in between them.

It can be done on natural or fake lashes, depending on the length of your natural lashes.

The technique can also be applied to bottom lashes for a more complete look.

Though it is a much more subdued version, the pinched lashes are reminiscent of the makeup of 1960’s beauty and style icon, Twiggy.

This look on idols, however, has left fans torn.

Some believe the look is just clumpy “spider leg lashes” and most people would look better with natural, fluffier lashes.

Yeji (ITZY)

Meanwhile, others believe it has a whimsical and fairy-like vibe that comes out even prettier in videos and photoshoots.

It all comes down to preference, just like any makeup trend.

If you get the chance to try it for yourself, one thing is certain: It takes a lot of skill to tend to each individual lash!
