(G)I-DLE‘s Shuhua recently discussed the concept of natural beauty and what it means to her.
In an interview with W Korea, Shuhua shared the meaning of her name and how she relates it to natural beauty.
‘Shu’ means ‘comfortable’ and ‘Hua’ means ‘glamourous.’ When you put those words together, you get my name. I think I’ve been living like my name, where I go through my daily life gently and transform into someone who is glamorous on stage.
Shuhua continued to explain that she tries to express and share her belief in being natural by staying away from cosmetics off stage.
I think the about the importance of being natural. That is also why I expressed my values on naturalness on SNS. There are many people who ask me why I don’t put makeup on, why I don’t color my hair, or why I don’t paint my nails. Maybe I’m lacking, but I like my natural self and believe it’s precious.
Instead of asking these questions, Shuhua expressed that she believes people should acknowledge that people have different tastes and interests.
Breaking away from the standard beauty, I want to express that it would be nice if people could respect everyone’s taste as what everyone looks for is different. That is what has always been in my heart, but one day I woke up and wanted to share it with everyone.
Shuhua then revealed what she believes to be the individual charm and natural beauty of some of her fellow members.
For our team, something to be proud of is how we are all individually different. Like how I can show my cold and chic charm on stage, Soyeon unnie shows charisma, and Soojin unnie is sexy. That’s the same reason why I love cooking. When you combined all the different flavored ingredients, an unexpected taste is made.
Whether on or off stage, everyone can agree that Shuhua is truly beautiful inside and out.
