“TIME” Selects “10 Best K-Dramas To Watch On Netflix”… But Korean Netizens Couldn’t Agree Less

“This list is f*cking canceled…”

With Netflix‘s K-Drama game growing stronger by the minute, solid viewer recommendations have been keeping the Quarantined generation of 2020 busy.

To hop on the hype, TIME magazine published a list called “The 10 Best Korean Dramas to Watch on Netflix”, though it clarified “shows unavailable on Netflix USA are not included“.

The list included, in no particular order, these ten titles: Crash Landing On YouItaewon ClassMr. SunshineKingdomWhen The Camellia BloomsSignalPrison PlaybookStranger, all of the Reply series (1997, 1994, and 1988), and Hi Bye Mama.

Korean netizens, however, didn’t quite agree with Hi Bye Mama making it on the list. This 2020 K-Drama, featuring actress Kim Tae Hee and actor Lee Kyu Hyung, premiered with high hopes — but unfortunately ended in fierce viewer criticism after “The storyline fell apart and the screenwriter obviously had no idea how to put it back together.”

Some aggressively commented, “TIME must not have watched Hi Bye Mama to think it belongs here” — as they pointed out how the particular show only averaged around 5% in viewer rating, which is relatively low in comparison to how the other listed titles did.

In its place, Korean netizens strongly recommended the newest Extracurricular — in which actor Kim Dong Hee regained the viewer trust for his chilling portrayal of his psychopathic role…

… and the 2016 hit rom-com Another! Miss Oh — which successfully restored some faith in true love for the viewers…

… as well as the 2014 webtoon-based Misaeng: The Incomplete — which had all the office-bound viewers relating too hard not to watch!

On the other hand, if you find the usual pace of 16+ episodes of K-Dramas to be too much to handle — here are shorter ones that can easily be digested in one, or maybe two, sitting.
