He first made his name known as the prodigious all-rounder from KPOP STAR Season 2 which aired from November 2012 to April 2013. His singing and rapping skills were acknowledged by viewers and the judges alike.

Yedam captured the hearts of South Koreans and ended the show with a high rank of second place, just after fellow YG Entertainment labelmates AKMU. Some of his highest viewed performances included covers of Justin Bieber‘s “BABY”…

The Jackson 5‘s “I Want You Back”…

…and Hanson‘s “MmmBop.” These and other videos of Yedam garnered millions of views each.

In an interview with 1theK, he revealed that despite his success on the show, he no longer remembers what it was like performing there.

I’ll be completely honest, all the memories of singing on stage back then have been erased.

Whenever he watches videos of his performances almost a decade ago, it feels like watching another person.

I look up my old videos sometimes and when I do, it doesn’t feel like me. I couldn’t remember it.

— Yedam

His videos were “so old,” that they felt like they were filmed a lifetime ago. The little boy Yedam was then has grown up to be even more skilled and mature at present!

It really was so long ago.
